Crew Supervisor- Ploughshare Farm, a 400 member CSA in Alexandria MN, is now hiring for a Field Crew Supervisor. Primary duties will be harvest and field crew supervision. A minimum of three seasons on a diversified vegetable farm is required. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. Compensation: A competitive hourly wage (based upon experience), housing in a 3 bedroom, split-logged home. Barker's Farm , located in the scenic Seacoast of New Hampshire, is looking for the right individual to assist with the management of a well established historic family farm. This successful and diversified operation thrives on the production and sale of a wide variety of vegetables, small fruits, and cut flowers grown both in greenhouses and fields and is marketed through our busy roadside stand, and at 3 weekly farmers markets. This is a year round position that requires practical farming skills and effective people skills to help lead a diverse work group.

We are looking for a self motivated, entrepreneurial person to assist in the management of field production from seed to harvest. Qualified candidates should possess the following qualities and skills. Leadership: self motivated with effective people skills, able to work with and help lead a diverse group, positive attitude with a foundation of sound personal and business ethics, creative and ethical. Cultural practices: an understanding and working knowledge of basic best farming practices to include, soils management, fertilization, integrated pest management, greenhouse production and management. Tractor & Equipment Operation:  "safety first" oriented, able to operate farm equipment including primary tillage, planting, transplanting, row crop cultivation, hand line irrigation, and application of pesticides. Maintenance Skills: able to maintain tractor & equipment and perform basic repairs, property maintenance skills should include basic carpentry.

May be willing to provide training to the right individual who has limited experience in some required disciplines. This is a unique opportunity for the right person to be part of a growing, progressive, and dynamic farming operation. Barker's Farm has prospered by way of sound and sustainable cultural practices.
